The winners of the 2014 Secretary’s Biodiesel and Ethanol Marketing Awards were announced last month in Iowa. During the annual Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa (PMCI) meeting in Des Moines, Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey presented a plaque to STAR Energy’s Jason Stauffer. Stauffer serves as the manager of marketing for STAR’s retail fuels division. STAR Energy is a subsidiary of Growmark Incorporated, an agricultural cooperative providing fuels, lubricants, nutrients, marketing support and logistics to cooperative members in the Midwestern area. STAR, in business since 2000 and located in Manson, has been affiliated with Growmark, Inc. since 2007. Newz Group is a proud partner of Growmark, providing electronic and traditional media monitoring and media analysis services.

STAR Energy received the 2014 Ethanol marketing award primarily because of its recent installation of E15 fuel pumps at its retail fuel location in Fort Dodge. STAR, guided by Stauffer’s forward-thinking efforts, has also been very proactive in marketing and promoting other ethanol based blends at its 23 Iowa locations. STAR has not only demonstrated its commitment to making biofuel options available in the state of Iowa, but has also taken the extra step of educating its customers and the public about the importance of renewable fuels to the agricultural economy and the automotive benefits of using an ethanol based fuel.

Newz Group, Inc. would like to congratulate STAR Energy, and by extension Growmark, Inc., for their unflagging support of the growing biofuels industry, and Iowa’s rural economy. For more about this year’s award recipients, visit the Iowa Department of Agriculture’s website here.
