Brad Buchanan, CEO, and President of Newz Group has announced the company’s intention to enter the professional racing circuit as an official National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) sponsor and car owner. Inspired by Columbia Missouri’s local hometown hero, Carl Edwards, Buchanan issued the following public statement:

“In light of our company’s dominant role in the media analysis industry, and a tip of the hat to my personal hero, Carl Edwards, our company has decided to pursue a new and completely novel challenge…professional auto racing.”

The company had hoped to have a car ready by the STP 500 Cup Series race in Martinsville race on March 26th but missed the deadline when some last minute questions came up about the status of the car’s official driver, Ben Buchanan.  Ben, who is more accustomed to driving a company spreadsheet in Excel than he is a high-performance stock car on a raceway, is not terribly concerned about his lack of experience as a driver.

“If I can manage a full-time job, an 18-month-old daughter at home, and an obsession with sci-fi and fantasy literature, I’m sure I can figure out how to drive competitively in the NASCAR series.”

While Team Newz Group has missed the official start to the NASCAR season, they plan to be in full gear by the time the GEICO 500 rolls around at Talladega in late April, and they have every intention of dominating the track.  “Kyle Busch had better watch his rearview mirror because I’m coming for him,” exclaimed an emotionally-charged Ben Buchanan over his third cup of coffee.  NASCAR insiders have already predicted great things for Team Newz Group, and the team’s apparel is now a hot commodity at their online store, http://newzgroup.com/merch.  Company personnel manager Amy Fritz was a bit more reserved about her company’s NASCAR debut: “I don’t really care if they want to go out and drive around in circles now and then, as long as no one comes in late and we don’t get into too much overtime, I’ll be happy.”  If all goes well, the race fans at Talladega will see a new presence on the track on April 29th, but they will have to look fast because Team Newz Group travels at the speed of information.
